Goodyear G90 Tyres

Post by MN228 » Sat May 16, 2015 6:04 pm

I need to replace my tyres shortly and have been looking at options.

Has anyone here any experience or knowledge of Goodyear G90 tyres on Wolf rims being used on an S3 Lightweight?

I know they are not the most "grippy" tyres but living in the Isle of Man its all A and B roads and very rarely over 45 mph

Not known of them being used "in service" as the wolf rim came out after all LWT's should have been cast.

However, the Army have used G90's on Wolf rims for quite some time on 90's and 110's, only recently changing over to different make and size.

I'm not an expert on this, but i think it's necessary to replace the wheel studs for Wolf wheels (for longer ones), otherwise there are insufficient threads on the wheel nuts for it to be safe... I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me can confirm/deny this :)

Mine had gone 9th and wolf wheels on when I got it. Seemed fine to me both on and off road, the only thing I will say is that they seemed to wear out fairly fast.

Decided to fit Wolf wheels and G90 tyres and so far they have been fine - no noiser than the tyres they were replacing and as its all short journeys on A and B roads here on the Isle of Man they should last long enough.

Managed to pick up a set of 5 brand new Genuine Land Rover ANR4583HYB wheels still in their boxes for less than aftermarket copies. The fact that the HYB variant is already NATO Green was a bonus as they didn't requiring painting

Knowing how everyone likes pics I snapped a couple while the sun was shining

I agree with above , doesn't like the wolfs very much .
Nuts only thread half onto the short studs .
Original tyres and wheels now refurbed and fitted .
